Edinburgh, Scotland Part 1

Good Evening,

Welcome to the Edinburgh, Scotland Series where we will talk about things Scotland. I will touch base about packing, traveling to Scotland, and temporarily settling there.

Packing for Scotland is packing items for spring and fall. I took this trip when I was a freshman in college and I was studying abroad for two weeks. This was my first time traveling out of the country by myself so I was nervous, but extremely excited to go. I honestly packed a little late and I should’ve prepared before I left, so make sure to do research about the country and get the appropriate wear especially what part of the year that the trip is being planned.

We traveled with Delta and I would recommend them. The staff were nice and professional with great customer service. We had two planes to get on in order to get to Edinburgh. We took the first plane which was eight hours long with food, a blanket, and a TV screen behind the seat that is provided for everyone on board. The first plane landed in Amsterdam, and the second plane took us to Edinburgh.

(This was the view when we arrived).

We arrived in Edinburgh late afternoon where we unpacked and got ready to go to dinner at Howie’s Waterloo Place. It was a nice restaurant and not too expensive there. I tried a traditional Scottish dish that is called Haggis (aka sheep stomach) and it is not that bad. I recommend it to anyone adventurous enough to try. And after dinner we all went to walk around Calton Hill which is on a little mountain that has incredible views of the city.

This is part 1 of the series where we talked about getting ready for the trip, traveling en route to Edinburgh, and arriving at that location. Scotland has a lot to offer and we will dive more into it in the future. Look forward to some interesting stories.
